The United States often had some of the biggest and most powerful steam locomotives. Normally, these were two cylinder engines, or possibly four-cylinder articulated engines. While in the rest of the world it was common to have inside cylinders, it was very uncommon in the US. The New Haven was daring enough to build this three cylinder mountain to pull heavy freight trains throughout the system. This model is so well detailed, it even features, an operating third cylinder and piston.
