HO Brass - GPM NYC New York Central System P&LE 2-8-4 A-2A #9400 Late 1950s - F/P

I have sold other Glacier Park Model's Locomotives in the past. But this may just be the most difficult and hard to find of all of them. This is the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie A-2A class Berkshire. This was the last steam locomotive delivered to any railroad part of the New York Central System. The system is a part of the NYC history that many people do not model for one reason or another. Choosing to model the System and especially the P&LE, you can have a reason to get this amazing locomotive painted in army tank green.
  • GPM 9400 2-8-4
  • Factory Painted Huntingford Green
  • Great looking model
  • Boo-Rim Precision Built Model. Runs extremely well and has superb detail including full in-cab detail.
  • Features a can motor, operating directional lights and more
  • Extra parts included
  • Original box & foam included
  • ONE OF THE ONLY LOCOMOTIVES EVER DELIVERED WITH A TENDER AND LOCOMOTIVE FROM SEPARATE BUILDERS. The Engine was built by Alco and the Tender was built by Lima-Hamilton

From Glacier Park Models website:

These magnificent locomotives were ordered in the winter of 1947 by the N.Y.C. for their P.&.L.E. subsidiary, with the first engine being delivered in the summer of 1948.

Designed by Paul Kiefer of NYC Hudson and Niagara fame he set out to build what would be one of the most modern steam locomotives ever built.

Sitting on 63" drivers the all welded boiler produced a maximum tractive effort of 67,130 lbs.

The Lima-Hamilton tender was a 12 wheeled 20,000 gallon tank carry 22 tons of coal making the total locomotive length a very impressive 95'- 5" !

Only seven engines were built and the last locomotive was retired in 1953 from the P&LE. Later their careers where extended as they were leased to the NYC only to be permanently retired in 1956

  • Our 1950's version carries road number "9400" and is dressed out in white lettering, and features exposed boiler steps with Black and Silver road and number plates.
  • All versions were painted "Huntingford Green" with a dark graphite smoke box and fire box. These models were produced in very limited quantities, ensuring that ownership will remain very exclusive indeed
