This is a hand-crafted HO scale brass model imported from Japan in the 1960s. It was fabricated by KTM Katsumi in Tokyo, Japan. MPN Item #3047. The model is a replica of an 1860–1870 era American railway passenger car. This version has the clerestory roof design. The paint scheme is warm yellow with teak wood color for window frames and doors, which was a common livery. Wheel truck/bogie frames are painted red. These models stand out as excellent for their applied factory finishes and are considered rare because very few were made. The model comes in the original box, with factory notes and a sheet of wood-tone cardboard for cutting out interior partitions, seating, and other interior features. The model is protected with a flexible plastic sheet and bubble wrap for cushioning to prevent damage. The model has been fitted with clear Plexiglas glazing at the windows and Kadee knuckle-style couplers. The wheel finish is polished stainless or nickel-silver plated. The roof is removable to install lighting, passenger figures, and interiors as desired. There are no defects or visible evidence that the car has been used. Likely, it was displayed or spent years in the box.
